Simply - Acupuncture is  very effective at alleviating the discomforts of many common ailments of modern living. View some of our patient testimonials below to hear examples of restored health and well being. Our primary goal at Acupuncture Pain Relief Center is to help people become pain-free and healthy!

Dr. Nixon Explains How Acupuncture Works and Why

Oriental Medical theory explains that pain and disease are caused by either an imbalance or a blockage of the energy circulating through the body. Acupuncture restores balance to the flow of energy, returning the body to a healthy state.

In an acupuncture treatment, thin sterile needles are inserted at specific points on the body. These points are carefully selected by the acupuncturist according to the patient's signs and symptoms. Each treatment is tailored to the individual's needs. The acupuncture treatment corrects the imbalances and removes the blockages of energy, thus restoring the body to health.

Emphasis is placed on understanding and treating the underlying cause of each individual's imbalance. This holistic approach to health not only addresses physical complaints, but also emotional, environmental, and lifestyle conditions.

Modern Western medicine cannot explain how acupuncture works. Traditional acupuncture is based on ancient Chinese theories of the flow of Qi (Energy) and Xue (Blood) through distinct meridians or pathways that cover the body somewhat like the nerves and blood vessels do. According to ancient theory, acupuncture allows Qi to flow to areas where it is Deficient and away from where it is Excess. In this way, acupuncture regulates and restores the harmonious energetic balance of the body. In Chinese there is a saying, "There is no pain if there is free flow; if there is pain, there is no free flow."

Uses for Acupuncture

Oriental Medical theory explains that pain and disease are caused by either an imbalance or a blockage of the energy circulating through the body. Acupuncture restores balance to the flow of energy, returning the body to a healthy state.

While Westerners are most familiar with the use of acupuncture for pain control and anesthesia, acupuncture also treats a wide variety of conditions. Many common disorders that we successfully treat with acupuncture and Oriental Medicine are:

* Back and neck pain
* Auto accident injuries (whiplash)
* Sciatica
* Carpal tunnel syndrome
* Fibromyalgia
* Arthritic pain
* Tennis Elbow
* Non-healing wounds and ulcers
* Neuropathy
* Addictions (tobacco, drugs etc.)
* Chronic Fatigue syndrome
* Infertility
*Deafness, Tinnitis
*Cosmetic Conditions
*Conditions that modern medicine has deemed hopeless (these are my favorites!)

My experience with Michael Nixon was pleasant from the very beginning to the end. He is extremely caring, and a genuine medical practitioner. He uses multiple modalities during the acupuncture session, all while explaining in great detail what is happening. I highly suggest getting a session with him.

Amani Bailey

Had a great treatment at Acu Pain Relief Center after a recommendation from a friend. Not only was Dr. Nixon professional, but was extremely knowledgeable about my sports injury from a few years back. After two treatments my shoulder pain reduced significantly. By my fourth treatment my pain that I had felt for years had disappeared.

Wonderful experience! 7 doctor's said there was no hope for me to be able to open my eyes again due to severe bilateral blepharoah spasms. Today my eyes are fully open! I thank the Lord for Michael Nixon faithfully working on me. Once I was blind, but now I see!

Words cannot begin to express my elation!! Michael Nixon is truly a Godsend. I have severe carpal tunnel syndrome and de quervein tendonitis in my wrist. I had such pain and had been losing sleep as a result. After one session I can feel my once very numb finger tips again. I have increased dexterity in my wrist again without writhing in pain. This man has nearly 4 decades of experience in healing people. I am just amazed. I received the low energy infrared laser treatment. If you feel hopeless like I did, go see Mr. Nixon!

Tiffany Monson

I felt at ease as soon as I walked in! Michael carefully explained every aspect of the procedure before we started and continued explaining everything that he was doing while the procedure was going on. I could not have asked for a better first experience with acupuncture and cannot wait to go back again! I immediately felt relief to a pain that has been bothering me for two months and am now a huge believer in it’s healing benefits.

Mike is great! I have been to many acupuncturist in different USA states, but Mike has been the best of them all. More than a acupuncturist, he is a healer. He is very knowledgeable, compassionate and cares for your needs. I just moved to NC a few months ago and I wish I could find an acupuncturist up here like him. I truly recommend him.

As a former neuro rehab therapist, I am especially appreciative of Deacon Mike’s excellent skills decrease pain and muscle rigidity in my left shoulder that had persisted about 7 months. I’ve made so much progress in four visits, my function has drastically increased and pain is gone. I am humbled by his skill and wholeheartedly recommend his care. And he’s a delightful human being, you will leave a better person!

I saw Dr. Nixon first in 2013 for fertility issues. 3 children later, and now I have back problems. He successfully has treated my ailments and friends' ailments. Dr. Nixon prides himself on medical mysteries and is a friendly, honest and spiritual healer. I wholeheartedly recommend him to everyone.

Lindsay Granger

My daughter was diagnosed with developmental delays and several neurological disorders, including hypotonia, starting at birth. As time went on and she was in physical, occupational, and speech therapies weekly, I was told to expect that she may never walk. She did therapy everyday for the first three years of her life, but she was formally evaluated once a month by a physical therapist. After one month of treatments for hypotonia through Dr. Nixon, the therapist commented that her muscle tone had significantly improved. (This testimony is continued on the Testimonials page)

Jill M.

When I stumbled and fell on cement pathway I couldn’t walk. My attempt to do a couple of steps didn’t succeed and pain got excruciating. I thought I won’t be able to walk or end up in wheel chair. When I came to Dr. M. Nixon, he started a treatment immediately while gathering detailed information about the injury and pain. He carefully inserted needles and provided laser treatment. After a first treatment my pain began to turn from a “lion” to a “lamb”; after two treatments I dared to take a few steps with a cane. It was a huge labor, but I could do it! Every treatment Dr. Nixon monitored change in my condition, such as pain level, location, and etc. to tailor the right treatment. From session to session my improvement progressed dramatically. From the fifth treatment I manage to reduce my reliance on a cane. I started walking slowly and could do every day simple activities of which we simply are unaware in normal functioning - standing, bending, and dressing. Before I discovered AcuPainRelief Center I didn’t know anything about laser technology in medicine and was skeptical. However, this non-invasive treatment gets more and more usable. Dr. Nixon turned out to be one of the first practitioners and he is really a master in this field. I’m grateful to him for bringing me back to a normal life.
